It was filled with only salt water taffy at Melanie's request. That was a lot of fun with many laughs. Next we had tiny sandwiches and lime sherbet/7up punch. We sang happy birthday and she blew out the candles on her lemon shaped, lemon cake with lime filling. We had the cake with frozen vanilla yogurt.
Followed that with opening her presents from her friends. Her friends left not long after that. For dinner that night, we all went to Denny's where Melanie was allowed to order off the grown up menu, yum! On Sunday, the 7th, her actual birthday, we started into our traditional family celebration. We woke her up by singing happy birthday and taking her picture.
We escorted her to the kitchen where the table was filled with our presents for her. While she opened her gifts, I made her special requested breakfast. She wanted ham and cheese omelets, lots of bacon, toast, kiwi and strawberries and orange juice. She liked her gifts and enjoyed her breakfast.
We all got ready for church and went to church. At church, the primary kids sang the birthday song to her. She got a card for a candy bar from the bishop. At home later, we cooked a frozen pizza and ate it with salad and more lime sherbet/7up punch. After dinner, we had another round of happy birthday singing and more cake and ice cream. So we brought in the double digits in style and all enjoyed celebrating Melanie's special day. Happy Birthday Melanie!!!
