James' Allergies

We finally got the results of the allergy testing done on James a month ago. Oh My Gosh!!! Poor kid is riddles with allergies! Makes me wanna test the whole gang to root out any other hidden threats to the health of my family members. Here's the list of things I now intend to eradicate from James' world... somehow....

Shellfish (seafood in general OK but shellfish of any kind is severe)
Outside Mold (how do you eliminate outside mold?)
Cat (we have two new kittens and a three year old cat! All of which he loves!)
House Dust Mite (leather furniture and less carpet a must)
Ragweed Pollen

It completely makes sense that he's always got a drippy nose and has randomly gotten hives. Now that we know what we're fighting... we'll have a better chance of winning.

We plan to change our efforts to remodel the family room to include money in the budget for allergy treatments for our house.

We'll get our duct work cleaned and serviced. We'll upgrade our air filters to the best we can buy for allergies. We'll get top of the line air filters an use them often. Our cats will be kenneled at night to prevent them from getting in bed with James. Eventually, we'll screen in the back porch to give the cats more space yet a clear separation from us when needed. We will be using certain products with the cats that are designed to reduce their effect on people with cat allergies. We'll increase the frequency in vacuuming. Any new furniture purchased will have to be leather. Any room remodeled will have the carpet removed. We will do our best to keep the cats but if we aren't able to improve the environment enough for James, we'll be looking for a new home for them. We'll get allergy bags for our mattresses and pillows. James will be daily medicated and perhaps eventually will go on allergy injections.

Anyone have any additional suggestions? We'd love to hear them...
